Spell Caster Alpha 0.1 - Getting it to work
As the title states, this is what will be expected in the game's release. Of course, there will be a playable demo before the full release, but before then, I will continue to update and record progress on my game's functions. Here is a short video showing what the player will be capable of doing with their voice in-game.
The spells are made up of 4 parts: That would be Casts, Elements, Shapes, and Modifiers. Not everything was shown in the demo, but more are currently being worked on. Changes will be made and things are not yet set in stone.

As you were able to see, I am able to create a spell simply by saying what I want it to be. Sure, it may be a little slow, but this is just for developing purposes. Eventually, I will adjust the main code to pick up on faster speakers and cast their spells too.The spells are made up of 4 parts: That would be Casts, Elements, Shapes, and Modifiers. Casts - How a Spell Will Behave
Basically, if it is a "hand" cast, then the spell will simply cast in the players hand, and that's how it behaves. Some of my elements that I plan on adding are, and not limited to;
- Momentum
- Takes the speed of your hand and carries through upon releasing the spell.
- Hand
- Hovers above the hand that casted the spell.
- Projectile (Originally Propel)
- The original way to launch something from your hand using magic.
- Anchor
- Anchors the spell at the position of the hand.
- Apply / Enchant
- Applies the effect to whatever the hand is touching. Shape does not really have any effect here, but is still required to formulate a spell. May be changed in the future.
Elements - How a Spell Looks
This determines how the spell will look. Will it be made of fire? Made of Air?? MADE. OF. LIGHT?!? Well, this is up for you to determine.
- Light
- Has a high illumination value. Great for lighting areas up to see things.
- Fire
- A flame which has the ability to set things ablaze. Also a light source, but not as great as the 'Light' element.
- It has a warm glow and is very pleasant to look at for that warm feeling.
- Air
- A way to manipulate the surrounding air. This could push things, pull things, cut things, but not pierce things.
- It looks like a... well, nothing really, I mean, it's air.
- Water
- It's water. It can extinguish fire, fill things up, and look like a pretty waterfall if you wanted one.
- It looks like water. B)
- Earth
- A hunk of stone used for impacting and piercing.
- It's a rocky, muddy ball of dirt and grass and stone.
- Dark
- The dark attribute is the opposite of light, it can take light away and create dark areas.
Shapes - The Shape of the Spell
This is the shape the spell will take on. There will be more shapes later on.
- Ball / Sphere
- The round shape, like a ball.
- Beam
- Emits the object in a straight path from the source, making it elongated.
- Trap
- Creates a rune-like object that lingers and waits for the sad victim that will find it.
- Blade
- Summons a blade. How you cast it is up to you.
Mods - Changes the Spell a Bit
The mods will change the way the spell behaves or looks.
- Gravity
- Now the spell must abide by the laws of gravity by laws of Sir Isaac Newton.
- Solid
- Instead of the spell falling apart on impact, it will simply bounce off.
- Sticky
- Upon impact, the object will stick to the impacted object.
- Crystallized
- The spell's magic crystallizes. The effects are not as strong, but it lasts much longer.
- Trigger
- The spell will not reveal itself, but will spawn as a usable item. When the item is used, then the spell will be ready to cast, free of charge of course.
- [Insert Color]
- Saying a color (Will be limited to prime colors and others) will change the spell's color to the desired color.
Dispelling a Spell
In order to dispel a spell that you are currently casting, you simply have to say 'Dispel', and you're good to go. Don't want to accidentally get a fireball ready to cast inside your house and forget that you have to open your hand to open the door.
